The Virjerab La Pass Trek is categorized as an extreme/challenging trek. It involves high-altitude passes (up to 5,985m), long walking days, and camping in remote areas. Previous trekking experience at altitude is highly recommended.
The ideal season is July to September, when the weather is more stable, and the snow conditions on the pass are manageable.
Yes. Since this is one of the toughest treks in Pakistan, participants should have experience of multi-day treks at high altitude. Mountaineering skills (using ropes, crampons, ice axe) are a plus.
Accommodation will be in hotels/guesthouses in cities and villages, while the majority of the trek is camping-based with full support staff, tents, kitchen, and porters.
We include contingency days in the itinerary. In case of bad weather or delays, our guides make adjustments. Emergency evacuation can be arranged if needed, but it is mandatory for trekkers to have travel and rescue insurance.
A very good fitness level is required. You should be able to trek 6–8 hours a day at high altitude with a backpack. Regular cardio and endurance training before the trip is highly recommended.
